Simon Anholt

Simon Anholt is an independent policy advisor to the governments of countries, cities and regions on nation branding, public diplomacy, economic development, public affairs, cultural relations and trade, tourism and export promotion. He works with the heads of government, heads of state, ministerial cabinets, business and civil leaders of many countries, cities and regions, helping them develop policies, strategies and investments to improve their international standing and reputation.

He has written many books, papers and articles on place branding and public diplomacy, and is a well-known public speaker, editor and broadcaster. He is Editor of the quarterly journal, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, published by Palgrave Macmillan Journals.

Simon is the founder and author of three major global surveys of the reputations of places - the Anholt Nation Brands Index, City Brands Index and State Brands Index. These annual surveys are carried out in partnership with GfK Roper Custom Research and are used by many national, city and state governments to monitor their international standing.
