The Road to Net Zero

Research by E.ON UK shows the majority of businesses (75 percent) believe that achieving net zero emissions by 2050 is a realistic target, and when asked whether they had a clear plan to hit net zero emissions ahead of 2050 nearly two thirds (64 percent) said they did.
 
Key points include:
  • Nearly two thirds (64 percent) felt clear on the role businesses will play in helping the UK to achieve net zero emissions by 2050
  • Only a third (37 percent) felt confident the government will develop a realistic plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2050
  • Nearly half (46 percent) were worried about the potential economic impact on their organisation of delivering net zero
  • A third of businesses (32 percent) also recognised that there would be some level of general taxation, while nearly one in four (23 percent) believed it should form part of their existing climate obligations
