Destination Net Zero: Fast-Tracking Progress

The race to net zero is well underway, but how fast are companies really progressing? Criticaleye Partner Accenture’s Destination Net Zero report sheds light on this question. Drawing on data from the world’s 2,000 largest companies by revenue (G2000), the report reveals that although progress is being made, the current pace remains insufficient to meet global climate goals.

Key takeways include:
  • Since 2016, 55 percent of G2000 companies have reduced their operational emissions (Scope 1 and 2), up 3 percent since 2023
  • 77 percent have lowered their emissions intensity (emissions per unit of revenue), an improvement of 2 percent since 2023.
  • 30 percent are now deploying 15 or more decarbonisation levers — a critical threshold for meaningful progress towards net zero.
