Generating Growth: How Generative AI Can Power the UK’s Reinvention

Generative AI presents a greater opportunity for the UK than any other G7 country. The technology could almost double the UK’s long-term growth rate over the next 15 years (to 2038), but there is no guarantee that it's full potential will be realised.

In this report, Accenture explores the ways to unlock this value through five imperatives that will accelerate reinvention.

Key takeaways include:
  • Based on current executive choices, the UK could miss nearly half a trillion pounds of untapped value in the next 15 years
  • Whilst 79 percent of executives report that their UK organisation has piloted Gen AI in one or more functions of their business, only nine percent have scaled Gen AI across their organisation
  • A landmark shift in digital skills training is essential to unlock the benefits of Gen AI. Executives surveyed estimated that 62 percent of their workforce will require reskilling —an equivalent to roughly 20 million people
