Chief People Officer Pathways Report 2024

The importance of human capital and effective human capital practice can not be understated, against an ever-changing business landscape, according to Eton Bridge Partners.

In its latest CPO Pathways Report, Eton Bridge Partners assesses global appointments of chief people officers between 2022 and 2023. The statistics, analysis and conclusions found in the report provide useful insight to all C-suite members, as well as to aspiring CPOs considering their next career move.

Key Takeaways include:

  • Gender matters. Chief people officers are much more likely to be female than male, with some regional variations – some of which are significant.
  • Opportunities have dramatically reduced. Overall, chief people officer appointment volumes have fallen year-on-year, in some regions by up to 30-40 percent.
  • The ownership model is likely to impact future prospects. Candidates currently in private equity businesses are likely to remain in PE, while the PE environment generally is becoming more accepting of experience from other ownership models.
