Life Trends in 2024

Authored by Mark Curtis, Former Global Sustainability Lead, Accenture Song, Accenture

In this report, Criticaleye Advisory Partner, Accenture, looks forward to the coming year, examining trends across business, technology and society. Keeping pace with constant shifts is challenging, so being agile to adapt to ongoing trends is crucial for businesses to capitalise on growth and stay relevant to their customers.

Key takeaways include:

  • 'Shrinkflation' and 'skimpflation' are increasingly common terms as businesses are using these strategies to maintain or increase their profits. However, as the cost-of-living crisis endures, consumers are more conscious of spending, these strategies are attracting more attention.
  • Formatting preferences across dominant platforms are influencing others. This puts brands at risk of becoming inconspicuous: 35 percent of respondents find app designs indistinguishable across brands, particularly in the 18 – 24-year-old category.
  • A decade of deconstruction is underway. What once were key milestones in life and society formed by old systems, paths are now being rewritten to allow for more flexibility, informed by ‘the cards being dealt’.
