Alan stepped down as CEO of Whitbread plc in November 2010. This marks the end of 18 years at the company he joined as Managing Director, Whitbread Hotel Company in 1992. He joined the Board of Whitbread in May 2000.
Prior to Whitbread, Alan was Managing Director of Crest Hotels Europe, based in Frankfurt and Senior Vice-President of Holiday Inn Europe, Middle East and Africa, based in Brussels.
In addition to his role at Kesa Electricals Plc, he is also a Non-executive Director at Jumeirah Group LLC, a Director of the British Hospitality Association, A Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey, a Director of the World Travel & Tourism Council and a Trustee & Director at the West Buckland School Foundation.
