Breaking Through Disruption

When it comes to disruption, playing it safe can be risky. Accenture's analysis finds organisations that push themselves out of their comfort zone by making an 'innovation pivot' can truly change their position, with long-term impact in mind.

Key findings include:

  • $41 trillion in enterprise value is already exposed to disruption today
  • 71 percent of organisations are currently either in the throes of, or stand on the brink of, significant disruption
  • 83 percent of industry sectors spent at least five years in the same period of disruption between 2011 and 2018
  • 35 percent of companies in the software and platforms sector expect to adopt quantum computing over the next 5 years
  • Peak levels of current disruption for Retail occurred in 2017, as growth slowed and bankruptcies proliferated
