Matthew is Chair of Kier Group and was Non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee on the Board of Capita till 2022. As of 2021, he is also the Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee Intermediate Capital Group (ICG).

 

He was a Non-executive Director on the Board of Barclays from September 2017 to January 2020 and previously a Non-executive Director at Man Group.

 

From September 2013 to July 2017, Matthew was Chief Financial Officer at Royal Mail Group and played a key role in the successful IPO, which valued the business at £3.3bn. Before joining Royal Mail, Matthew was Group Finance Director at NEX Group (formerly ICAP) and Group Financial Controller and Group Treasurer at Diageo. He has also held positions at Kleinwort Benson and qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen.
