Catriona Schmolke CBE is an international business leader, honoured engineer, Chair and non-executive director. Her Board portfolio includes private equity, regulated utilities, government research and innovation and third sector. She is an experienced Chair and contributor to Audit & Risk, Health & Safety, Nominations and Remuneration Committees. She is recognised for her wealth of knowledge around strategic and organic growth, organisational transformation, ESG, post-acquisition integration, strategic change programmes, enterprise and project risk.

Catriona was appointed Chair of Artus in 2024. The company is a supplier of air conditioning systems for residential, commercial and laboratory environments, with the aim of reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. 

Alongside this role, Catriona is Non-executive Director at NES Fircroft, the world’s leading engineering staffing provider spanning the oil & gas, power & renewables, infrastructure, life sciences, mining, automotive and chemicals sectors worldwide. She is also Non-executive Director at Scottish Water, sitting on the Audit & Risk Committee. She also joined the Board of NPL Management in August 2022 as the NED responsible for Strategic Business Growth and as a member of the Audit & Risk Committee. 

Catriona exited her executive career in 2020 from NYSE-listed JACOBS. As Global Senior Vice President with 35 years in professional consultancy, she had worldwide Group accountability for the Operational Centers of Excellence for Procurement, Sales, Project Delivery, Quality Management, serving concurrently as Chief Safety, Security & Sustainability Officer.

As a Chartered Engineer, Catriona is one of five women in Scotland honoured with Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Her Operations career was predominantly in Europe and the Middle East (EME) in environmental project delivery across multiple areas within the resources and infrastructure sectors. Her operational leadership roles included EME CEO of the Energy, Waste & Water Business and EME CEO of the Sustainability Consulting Business.

Catriona is also Vice President and a Trustee on the Board of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE). She is the CEO of CharlieFive, delivering independent sustainability advice and executive mentoring and coaching. Catriona was appointed Visiting Professor of Sustainability at Newcastle University in 2021. She was awarded the CBE for services to engineering in the 2024 New Year's Honours List.

Married with three grown-up daughters, Catriona is based in Glasgow, Scotland.
