A seasoned non-executive director and chair, Sandra (Sandy) Stash has over 40 years of international executive and non-executive experience. Her board experience includes publicly listed, private equity, and government-owned businesses in the UK, Europe, USA, and Canada. Her executive career spans leadership positions in engineering and operations, commercial negotiations, mega capital projects, infrastructure, supply chain management, sustainability, and government and public affairs in the energy, manufacturing, and hard rock mining sectors. As a non-executive director and through the oversight of several very public and controversial issues, Sandy is recognized for her unique capabilities in understanding the interface between business and external stakeholders. She has deep business and operations experience on six continents, including North and South America, Southeast Asia, Australia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe.
Sandy is a Non-Executive Director (NED), Senior Independent Director (SID), and Chair of the Safety and Sustainability Committee at FTSE 250-listed Diversified Energy Company plc. She also serves on its Remuneration and Audit Committees. Since 2020, she has been a Board Director at Trans Mountain Company (TMC), a Canadian Crown Corporation, chairing its Operations Committee.
She is an NACD Certified Director and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. From 2020 to 2022, she chaired the ESG Committee at Lucid Energy until its sale to Targa Resources. In 2022, she joined the Board of Medallion Midstream, serving until its sale to ONEOK in 2024. She also served on AIM-listed Chaarat Gold’s board until it went private in 2024 and was a Board Member of FTSE 100-listed EVRAZ plc (2020–2022) and the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank (1996–2002). Sandy advises not-for-profits, public-benefit, and private firms. She was an Independent Advisor at EDF Energy Thermal Generation (2019–2023) and serves on the Board and Audit Committee of First Montana Bank. Additionally, she is a Governor at the Colorado School of Mines and a Director at Regeneration.
A petroleum engineer, Sandy was among the first female drilling engineers in North America. She held senior leadership roles at ARCO/BP, TNK-BP in Russia, BP Alaska, Talisman Energy, and Tullow Oil, where she was EVP for Safety, Operations, and External Affairs until her retirement in 2020.
