Dimitri Zenghelis
Economist
University of Cambridge

As a Partner at Independent Economics, an advisor to the Bennett Institute at the University of Cambridge and a Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics, Dimitri draws on two decades of experience advising senior officials in government, financial institutions, central banks, multilateral organisations and corporate leaders on integrating sustainability into macroeconomic strategy.

He is currently advising the UK Treasury on Risk Opportunity Analysis, to shape new (Green Book) appraisal and evaluation guidance, the World Bank on modelling approaches to driving a just transition, and the IMF on developing a code of practice for finance and economics ministries to meet structural transition goals.

Previous roles include nearly ten years as Head of Economic Forecasting at HM Treasury, in charge of the UK government's economic forecast, Head of Policy at the Grantham Research Institute at the LSE, Chief Economist for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, and lead author of the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change, shaping policy discussions on the financial risks and opportunities of a low-carbon transition.

Dimitri's work aims to support and guide public policy, influence investment strategies and corporate governance, and help institutions align with emerging regulatory frameworks while capturing value from future-proofed, sustainable growth.
