State of Work 2023

The Covid-19 pandemic revolutionised the way in which we work today, with the majority of organisations switching to a flexible/hybrid approach. Now, with economic headwinds and tighter capital constraints, many business leaders are searching for ways to make their organisations more productive. This report by Salesforce (through a Slack commissioned global survey) explores how companies are navigating productivity, flexibility and automation.

Key takeaways include:

  • 51% of workers rated themselves as more productive now than pre-pandemic (March 2020).
  • Despite the pressures that leaders face when it comes to raising productivity, research found that companies often overlook opportunities to embrace new ways of working and are not taking advantage of automation and AI to truly transform their work.
  • Data shows that most executives rely heavily on visibility and activity metrics, with 27% using these as their top overall productivity measure. Whereas 27% of workers would rather be measured on what they produce or achieve (achieving goals/KPIs).
