Improving the Ethnic Diversity of UK Business

The annual Parker Review focuses on improving the diversity of FTSE Boards. Criticaleye Partner EY is a co-sponsor of the report. This update of the 2022 research shows the strides made to improve equality in the Boardroom in the UK and what work still needs to be done.

Key Takeaways include:

  • 96 out of the FTSE 100 companies met their target of having at least one ethnic minority director on their board. Almost half of companies (49) have exceeded the target by having more than one ethnic minority director on their board.
  • Asian individuals comprise 51% of the ethnic minority population in England and Wales, Asian directors currently hold 58% of minority ethnic director positions in the FTSE 350.
  • The target now for FTSE 250 companies is to have one ethnic minority director by December 2024. As of December 2022, 149 companies have already achieved the target.
