Future Tech Investments Must Empower Workers

The last three years have seen a monumental shift in terms of businesses adopting technology rapidly and becoming increasingly reliant on it. This report by Cognizant, explores how businesses are using technology today, while stressing the importance of adopting it in a way that empowers the workforce and allows them to contribute to the success of the business.

Key takeaways include:

  • To fundamentally change the nature of enterprise technology in modern business, the three shifts identified following the research were: the critical need for data insights; a desire to augment (not replace) workers; and an eye toward democratising the use of digital tools.
  • Over a third of respondents (33 percent) believe data collection, governance and evolving forecasting and decision-making capabilities are business-critical, with nearly all (97 percent) placing at least a medium priority level on these activities.
  • When executives were asked to rate the extent to which their digital strategy prioritised 12 key imperatives, nine of these imperatives received business-critical attention from at least a third of respondents, and all were deemed, at the very least, a medium/high priority by over 89 percent of respondents.
