Jane stepped away from the Chief People Officer role at Biffa in mid 2024, the UK’s largest integrated waste management company, having joined the company in 2010. Jane is now concentrating on building a NED portfolio, adding to her current role of NED for Knights, a professional legal services business, where she chairs the Remuneration Committee. Jane has recently been appointed to the position of Trustee on the Board for the not-for-profit organisation, WithYou, which supports people with alcohol and drug dependencies and mental health issues.
In her time at Biffa, Jane was a member of the executive Board and was accountable for the people strategy for around 10,500 colleagues. Biffa went through significant change and growth during Jane’s tenure, including an IPO in 2016 resulting in a listing on the London Stock Exchange, and more recently being taken private having been bought by ECP - a US environmental infrastructure investor. The people agenda supported significant growth both organically and via acquisitions.
Prior to Biffa, Jane spent a large part of her career with Centrica, covering both specialist and generalist roles and leading the people elements of major transformation, including culture change and trade union relationships and negotiations.
