Achieving Net Zero

Net zero has arguably been the hottest topic and challenge for businesses and the government in the last decade, with the rising awareness of how carbon emissions are embedded into every aspect of our lives. Whether its energy production, travel, buildings, agriculture and more. In this report by Criticaleye partner Capita, an independent survey was conducted across a diverse population to better understand the public’s awareness and perceptions of net zero alongside purposeful solutions that can help drive progress and behavioural changes within local communities.

Key takeaways include:

  • According to the findings there is generally high awareness of the National Net Zero Strategy with 82% of respondents saying they were aware of it.
  • 75% agreed that they will need to change some behaviours in order to meet the net zero carbon goals.
  • Only 14% of respondents said that their organisation had a net zero plan in place and 40% didn’t know if such a plan existed.
  • Clear leadership, enhanced communication on the efforts of sustainability and  emphasis on money saving messages are amongst the 3 main actions required to trigger an attitudinal switch when it comes to net zero.
