Equity Capital Markets Update - H1 2019

IPO capital raised in London increased by 35 percent in the first half of 2019, despite global IPO volumes falling by 24 percent, finds this update from London Stock Exchange.

Other key findings include:

  • Global IPO sentiment was dampend in Q1 by geopolitical tensions, trade wars and European Parliament elections
  • European IPO volumes fell by 54 percent year-on-year (excluding the UK)
  • More capital was raised on London’s markets than across all European Exchanges (£19.2 billion) – 3x more than the next largest (Frankfurt Stock Exchange)
  • London welcomed 47 percent of all cross-border IPO issuance globally
  • AIM continued to drive growth capital in Europe, accounting for 65 percent of all IPO and FO capital raised and 3.1 times more than the next European Growth Market
